چکیده

Abstract This study sought to use the stress–strain relationship of interlocking stabilized soil block (ISSB) masonry model its behaviour and develop empirical formulae aid in predicting compressive strength. A finite element (FE) analysis adopting Rankine failure criterion was performed using Abaqus software simulate deformability wall which validated through experimental tests. The strength, modulus elasticity density ISSB defined FE were determined by performing laboratory tests on laterite blocks with pozzolanic cement, hydrated lime rice husk ash. Conversely, predictive for strength developed statistical multiple regression analysis. In addition mechanical properties masonry, simulation results indicated that is influenced type stabilizer used target material. dictated stress distribution vertical displacement masonry. diagonally stepped mode experienced more brittle while cone observed less assemblage.

Finite Element Analyses for Centrifuge Modelling of Narrow MSE Walls

High transportation demand has led to widening of existing roadways to improve traffic flow. In some cases, the space available on site is limited and the construction of earth retaining walls is done in front of previously stabilized walls. This can lead to retaining wall designs that are narrower than those addressed in current design guidelines. Narrow walls are Mechanically Stabilized Earth...

Homogenization of Interlocking Masonry Walls

In a previous publication the authors proposed a continuous model for describing the mechanical behaviour of ‘Running Bond’ masonry walls. Here a different masonry structure is considered. This structure is ‘bi-atomic’ in the sense that its pattern consists in two kind of blocks with different. The homogenization by differential expansions technique is used for obtaining an equivalent Cosserat ...

Consistent Local Projection Stabilized Finite Element Methods

Abstract. This work establishes a formal derivation of local projection stabilized methods as a result of an enriched Petrov-Galerkin strategy for the Stokes problem. Both velocity and pressure finite element spaces are enhanced with solutions of residual-based local problems, and then the static condensation procedure is applied to derive new methods. The approach keeps degrees of freedom unch...

Finite-Element Modelling of Biotransistors

Current research efforts in biosensor design attempt to integrate biochemical assays with semiconductor substrates and microfluidic assemblies to realize fully integrated lab-on-chip devices. The DNA biotransistor (BioFET) is an example of such a device. The process of chemical modification of the FET and attachment of linker and probe molecules is a statistical process that can result in varia...
